Johannes Thiele (chemical)

Friedrich Karl Johannes Thiele (13 of May of 1865 - 17 of April of 1918) was a German chemist born in Ratibor, Germany (at the moment, Racibórz, Poland). He was professor in numerous universities, including the one of Munich and the one of Strasbourg.

Contributions to the Organic Chemist

Thiele developed many techniques of laboratory related to the organic compound isolation. In 1917, it described to a device for the precise determination of the fusion points, known since then like apparatus/airplane or tube of Thiele.

Thiele was advancing opportunely in the terrain of the Organic Chemist. After the proposal of Kekulé for the structure of the benzene (1865), Thiele predicted the resonance of the molecule in 1899, and proposed a resonant structure, using a circle written in line discontinuous to represent the partial connections.

Thiele established the Theory of the Valencias Partial.

It discovered the condensation of ketones and aldehydes with ciclopentadieno like a route for the synthesis of fulvenos (1900).

Other data

Thiele was professor of Heinrich Otto Wieland, that was awarded with the Nobel prize de Química in 1927.
